At the heart of health, is the nutrition we put in to our bodies – our sustenance, our medicine, and our security. Philippe has a long standing focus on fostering local sustainable food security for the southern Vancouver island region, including coording the local food harvest festival attended by over 5000 area residents, with proceeds going to the Victoria Downtown Public Market Society to assist in re-establishing a downtown public produce market in Victoria. He is a volunteer for FoodRoots market in his local neighborhood, and is a board member on the Victoria Downtown Public Market Society seeking to reinstate a stronger local economy for farmers, food producers, and artisans in the region
Most notably his work as a Victoria City councilor has moved the urban food security movement leaps and bounds in his time in office, including: a ban on the production, storage and distribution of biosolids on CRD property, and a ban on the use of biosolids on all farmland in the CRD; and winning the support of city counsel in advocating for urban goats to be permitted in he city of Victoria.
